Our History
Decades ago, ministers who served the center of Fargo began to talk to each other about whom they helped out of their front door. They soon discovered they could do more effective crisis ministry if they pooled their resources. Central City Ministry was born. As time went on and our population grew, churches from Moorhead, Dilworth, and West Fargo joined and we became Central Cities Ministries. More recently, we have become intentionally interfaith.

It is the pre-existing relationships formed in CCM that birthed Sheltering Churches. Our continued relationships are important to effectively respond to future needs in our regions.
We meet monthly to discuss the trends we are seeing in terms of benevolence needs in our faith community, to hear from community service organizations, learn about local programs, and make decisions about how to pool our resources.
